Deputy Commander, US Army Garrison Fort Hunter Liggett

LTC Jason R. McKenzie hails from Eastern Kentucky and assumed the duties as the Deputy Commander in July 2017. H is previous assignment was the Support Operations Officer for the 304th Sustainment Brigade in Riverside, California.

LTC McKenzie’s key assignments include serv ing in LTG (Ret.) Hodges’ Commander’s Initiative Group in U.S. Army Europe located at Wiesbaden, Germany , Secretary of the General Staff for 7 th Mission Support Command, and ROTC instructor at East Tennessee State University .

McKenzie began his military career as an enlisted Soldier in the Kentucky Army National Guard in 1998, and earned his commission through ROTC as a Quartermaster Officer in 2001. He served on Active Duty with the 10th Mountain Division deploying both to Afghanistan and Iraq. In 2005, he tr ansitioned to the Army National Guard in relief efforts from Hurricane Katrina before taking command of B/340 th BSB in Atascadero, California. He transferred to the Army Reserve as an AGR in 2007.

LTC McKenzie attended the Quartermaster Officer Basic and Advanced Course; Theater Logistics Planners Program; United States Army Command and General Staff College; and the Joint and Combined Warfighting School -Hybrid. He graduated from the Morehead State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Central Michigan University with a Masters in Administration.

His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal (with Bronze Oak Leaf and 3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal, Joint Se rvice Achievement Medal, Army Rigger Badge and Parachutist Badge.
